Inspired by the Japanese discernment and art integrated with the world of whisky, Master Blender Sandy Hyslop travelled to Japan to seek out the best Mizunara oak casks. Following visits to a Japanese cooperage and meeting with the Master Cooper, they together agreed the exact specification of the casks and built a relationship that stands strong today. The porous nature of Mizunara oak results in a greater influence of flavour from the cask, meaning a wonderfully indulgent effect on our classic house blended Scotch whisky. The casks bring a range of gentle aromatic flavours to the blend, finished with a touch of spice. With a distinctive flavour that leaves a trace of hazelnut, Chivas Mizunara is a truly unique blend.

CHIVAS BROTHERS
In 19th Century Aberdeen, James Chivas started experimenting with some of the aged whiskies laid out in his grocery store cellar. A visionary act that would later change the Chivas Brothers story forever. Growing up on a remote Scottish farm, James and John Chivas were acutely aware that the world around them was changing and the idyllic backdrop they called home was no longer big enough to support their desire to make a difference. Following a three-day journey on foot, the brothers found themselves in Aberdeen. A city that perfectly matched their ambition. Finding gainful employment at an Aberdeen emporium James was quickly captivated by a whole new world of tastes, smells and exquisite flavours. Anything seemed possible and James quickly garnered a reputation for obtaining the unobtainable. When John joined the business Chivas Brothers was born.
