In 1870, Maurice Hennessy created Hennessy XO for his circle of friends and introduced a new style of cognac. Hennessy XO is the Original, the emblematic icon of the Hennessy Maison. Deep and powerful, the eaux-de-vie of this Hennessy XO cognac are aged in young barrels and marked out by their power and energy, but also by their capacity to achieve a great roundness through time.
Tasting notes
The palate is warmly embraced by flavors of candied fruit. The intriguing sensation of an intense, rising heat slowly reveals the complex taste of eaux-de-vie patiently aged in oak barrels. Perception of a strong spicy cognac note, tantalising the lips and palate with its distinct peppery flavor intertwined with a hint of chocolate.
X SHUTING QIU
An original artwork celebrates renewal, positive transformation, and embracing new beginnings. Shuting Qiu's hometown of Hangzhou, China, is renowned for its traditional crafts, such as the weaving of brocade and jacquard and intricate hand-embroidery. For Hennessy, the designer used those techniques to reimagine florals, incorporating the attributes of the serpent to tell a unique story of movement, transformation and becoming. This innovative art piece made for Hennessy features a dual allegory of transformation and rebirth as the snake sheds its old skin and emerges into an opulent, fantastical landscape. Recalling the grace of the Charente River, the serpent glides from old to new, its glistening red and gold body emerging into a new landscape. Embroidered flower petals appear in relief, symbolizing craft, opulence, and the promise of spring.
