A cask strength Laphraoig is truly something to behold, much less one that's seen a quarter of a century of aging. This here is the 2019 release of the Laphroaig 25 Year Old Cask Strength expression. The smoky single malt has been matured in a duo of both bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks for a whole 25 years. Eventually it was bottled in 2019 at cask strength, weighing in at a generous 51.4% ABV.
Tasting notes
Velvet complexity with interwoven smoke throughout. Its age brings out those sweeter sherry notes of dried fruit.
A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO LAPHROAIG
This classic flavour of our 10 Year malt whisky is the inspiration for every expression in our repertoire. It’s best known for the iconic peaty thump we’re famous for. Every sip smothers your senses with our outstanding smoky flavor, followed by hints of seaweed and a long finish with surprising sweetness. Laphroaig 10 was created over 75 years ago by the maverick Ian Hunter to bottle the very nature of Islay. To this day, many of our friends at the distillery say it’s their favorite dram because it’s the embodiment of the island we call home. Laphroaig Sherry Oak combines the unmistakable flavor of our 10 Year Old with the sweet, aromatic additions from Oloroso sherry casks. Launched in 2021, it’s the newest expression in our range and has quickly become a firm favourite among our Friends. It’s a happy marriage between rich, full bodied flavour and notes of Manuka honey, bacon and maple syrup. A sweet and smoky dram that’ll take you away to Islay.
