The Dalmore 40 Year Old is a ‘triple-matured’ single malt whisky that was matured in ex-Bourbon casks before spending seven years in Sherry butts used to age González Byass’ 30-year-old Matusalem oloroso, and finally returned once again to first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels. It is presented in a decanter designed by French crystal house Baccarat, featuring Dalmore’s 12-point Royal Stag emblem. Louis Roederer's most famous wine was created in 1876 to satisfy the demanding tastes of Tsar Alexander II. The emperor asked Louis Roederer to reserve best cuvée of The House for him every year. To distinguish this cuvée, this exceptional champagne came in a flat-bottomed, transparent lead-crystal bottle. Louis Roederer Cristal is a remarkably balanced and refined champagne whose length is inimitable. It has a silky texture and fruity aromas, complemented by a powerful mineral quality with white fruit and citrus notes. Cristal is a wine that keeps well: it can be conserved for over twenty years without losing its freshness and character. 2015 was a hot and sunny year marked by episodes of heat and drought, relieved by some very welcome rain at the end of the summer which enabled the grapes to preserve all their freshness. These weather conditions gave rise to juicy, ripe and concentrated grapes with a perfect balance. Louis Roederer Cristal 2015 has taken full advantage of these contrasting weather conditions, showing a strong chalky temperament and capturing the vibrations of its soils as never before; a delightful paradox.

The last vintage harvested in October, the only one in two decades, Louis Roederer Cristal Rose 2013 continues the great tradition of balance and purity that has made it legendary. The mineral concentration is at its peak and achieves tremendous depth in this late year. The longer vegetative cycle, the dry, bright summer and the slow ripening of the grapes up until the start of the autumn have given rise to two remarkably well-balanced and fresh champagnes that are the quintessence of chalky purity and the unique elegance typical of Cristal. In 2013 the Chardonnay shone with a new light, deeper, more complex and more saline. Blended with the Pinot Noir, it brings it out and takes it to a higher dimension, providing a structure and texture that portend a remarkable potential.

The peat-laden waters of Loch Uigeadail provide the smoky tones in this whisky, while maturation in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks imparts rich, warm flavours – perfect for a dramatic, stormy night. But the true secret behind Ardbeg Uigeadail's success? A unique vatting method that marries the deep, smoky notes from ex-bourbon American oak with the luscious, raisin-like character of ex-sherry Oloroso casks.

It is acknowledged by oilskin-clad locals and Gore-tex®-sheathed visitors alike that the Ardbeg Distillery can be subject to alarmingly fierce winds, driving rain and eerie coverings of haar. However, these frequent weather events would be far more extreme, were it not for the presence of the Mull of Oa. Topographically speaking, the Distillery is sheltered from the harshest excesses of the mighty Atlantic by this rounded peninsula in the south of Islay. This vast, jutting promontory is the inspiration for Ardbeg An Oa! Like the Mull of Oa, it is noticeably rounded. This is due in no small part to a spell spent in Ardbeg’s newly-established Gathering Vat. Within the vat we gather together whiskies from several cask types - including; sweet Pedro Ximenez; spicy Virgin charred oak; and intense ex-bourbon casks, amongst others - where they familiarise themselves with each other. The result is a dram with smoky power, mellowed by a delectable, smooth sweetness. Hallmark Ardbeg peat, dark chocolate and aniseed are wrapped in smooth, silky butterscotch, black pepper and clove, before rising to an intense crescendo of flavour.

In early 2017, Glenmorangie launched the Grand Vintage Malt 1990. The first release in the Bond House No. 1 Collection and therefore actually the successor to the 25yo Quarter Century. In this Bond House series we now welcome the sixth release, the 1996 Grand Vintage Malt. After the 1990 in 2017, the 1989 in 2018 as well as two travel retail releases and the 1991 Vintage in 2019, it is time for a 1996 Vintage in 2020. The 1996 Grand Vintage Malt is 23 years old and has fully matured in first fill bourbon casks. This limited edition was bottled at the end of 2019 at 43%, non-chill filtered and without the addition of colourants. This is a limited edition of 10,150 bottles.

On his quest to bring different tastes to the world, our Director of Whisky Creation had begun restyling every aspect of our whisky making, dreaming of an evermore expressive Glenmorangie. Already Dr. Bill had altered the spirit cut, the moment at which our spirit is taken from our stills, to accentuate its fruity finesse. And captivated by the possibilities of wood finishing, he had started exploring how rare wine casks could shape our whisky’s taste. Laid down in the finest bourbon casks, the spirit of 1997 would inspire one of Dr. Bill’s rarest experiments with wood. And after nearly a decade of careful ageing, he transferred a parcel into Château Montrose red wine casks. So exclusive are these casks, that Dr Bill could source only a handful from the celebrated Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux. So intense is the hue of the wine they once held, its rich colour is reflected in the wood of this whisky’s case.

The Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1998 is like embarking on a transatlantic journey from the world of classic bourbon, to the sherry bodegas in Jerez, both finessed with virgin new charred oak. Rich with vibrant fruits, smooth toffee, and ginger, this whisky’s eloquence is a symbol of our elegant, experimental style. The year this whisky was distilled, there was a fresh air of enthusiasm at the Distillery. Having joined Glenmorangie some years before, Dr. Bill Lumsden had just taken charge of all Glenmorangie’s whisky creation. And he was bursting with ideas for evermore delicious whiskies. Dr. Bill was particularly eager to explore the wonders new charred oak barrels might bring to Glenmorangie’s soft, fruity spirit. And so he earmarked a handful of carefully crafted casks, tailormade to enrich the Distillery’s single malt. By charring the virgin wood of these bespoke casks for the first time, Dr. Bill hoped to create a striking style of single malt, intense in colour and spice.

As Dr. Bill, our freethinking Director of Whisky Creation, enjoyed a cup of his favourite Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, the notion of Signet first came to him. At once his mind filled with spiralling mocha flavours that he could not forget. It would take him years to bring our unprecedented whisky to life. But in its tiramisu tones and melting chocolate, you can taste his most delicious imaginings. Signet begins with our precious chocolate malt spirit, made just once a year in our giraffe-high stills. Its espresso-like intensity fills our Distillery with aromas more familiar in an Italian coffee bar. Over the years, we temper its power with rare and treasured casks. Bourbon for creaminess. Sherry for sweetness. The spice of virgin charred oak. All balanced by some of the oldest whisky we own.

Inspired by his memory of entering a French pastry shop, Dr. Bill Lumsden first brought a whisky of dessert-like complexity to life in Glenmorangie The Nectar D’Or. Now, he has taken its swirls of sweet scents and spice to new heights of deliciousness, in our award-winning Glenmorangie The Nectar. Sauternes and Monbazillac casks from France bring sumptuous notes of pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apples. Moscatel casks from Spain offer sweet, syrupy dessert-like notes. And Tokaji casks from Hungary, add white chocolate, almond and honeycomb flavours to their creation.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'or

Dr. Bill, the Director of Whisky Creation of Glenmorganie, was born with a taste for adventure. And with this single malt he sought to create a whisky as unpredictable as his travels. Quinta Ruban is a whisky journey into the wild – a dark and delectable forest where the wind whistles with gusts of peppermint and dark swirls of chocolate can happen at any moment. In the giraffe-high stills, it begins soft and fruity, then gets darker and deeper as they let it age for 14 years in bourbon casks and port casks from Portugal. The finished whisky is a thicket of voluptuous flavour combinations. Walnut and black pepper. Mandarin orange and melted marshmallow. Dark chocolate bar and peppermint. Like stepping into a chocolate-minty-orange unknown, the journey is as delicious as the destination.

Glenmorangie 14 The Quinta Ruban

In every corner of the world, the setting of the sun is magical, mused Dr. Bill, the Director of Whisky Creation and an inveterate traveller. This whisky is Dr Bill’s attempt to bottle the magic of sunset, with its endless horizon of reds, oranges and purples. The Lasanta begins with the giraffe-high stills, which yield a deliciously delicate and fruity spirit. Next, they mature it in bourbon and sherry casks for 12 years, transforming it into a mouth-watering odyssey bursting with rich spiciness and sun-drenched sweetness. It radiates with raisins, honeycomb and chocolate-covered hazelnuts lightened by cinnamon breezes.

Glenmorangie 12 The Lasanta

This deeply sweet and nutty small-batch release is the first Glenmorangie ever to be finished in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. Aged for 12 years, it brings a new elegance to the Highland Distillery’s delicate style. The single malt spent its first 8 years mellowing in American white oak bourbon casks. Then, delighted by that whisky’s smooth, soft character, Dr. Bill was inspired to finish a select batch in Palo Cortado casks, never before used at Glenmorangie. Palo Cortado is the rarest variety of sherry, created purely by chance, when the protective ‘flor’ yeast does not form on sherry intended to become Amontillado.

Maureen and her team painstakingly hand-selected and then harmonised slow crafted whiskies from European oak casks and Refill Ex-Bourbon casks, which had been resting in our private reserves for over a quarter of a century, then masterfully marrying the final liquid in American Oak casks. The vividness of these whiskies was given greater depth as layers of flavour were enhanced by this third expertly chosen cask.

The Singleton of Dufftown is distilled in the Dufftown distillery in Speyside, the heart of malt whisky production in Scotland. Representing The Glenlivet’s signature style, The Glenlivet 12 Year Old single malt scotch whisky is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks that impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky its distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josie’s Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character.

Glenlivet Double Oak 12 Year Old

The Glenlivet 15 Year Old single malt scotch whisky gets its distinctive rich and exotic character from a process of selective maturation in which a proportion of the spirit is matured in French oak casks. In fact, at The Glenlivet they one of the first to use French oak for making whisky, a technique that has since been imitated the world over. The Limousin oak they use is cut in France’s Dordogne region, where it’s often used to mature cognacs.

The Hakushu Peated Malt Aged 18 Years exemplifies the art of marrying ingredients, techniques and terroir. Throughout our long history of using peated malt, House of Suntory blenders have harnessed Hakushu’s climate to unveil intricate layers of flavor from the peated malt’s robust smoke character. Long maturation catalyzed by Hakushu’s exceptionally pure water reveals a wave of clean smoke, deepening into herbaceous mineral notes and undertones of ripe apples.

Mars Whisky proudly presents Tsunuki The First the very first single malt from its second distillery opened in 2016 on the island of Kyushu in southern Japan. Until now, only single malts distilled in Shinshu had been aged in Tsunuki's cellars for subsequent bottling. Aged in Bourbon barrels, this new Single Malt reveals a nose rich in citrus fruits with notes of vanilla and fresh bread.

Created at the Shinshu distillery, having started distilling again since 2011, is a blend of single malts from at least two distilleries; Shinshu and foreign distilleries. Takehira Koteru, Chief Blender, has therefore focused on the specific taste characteristics of the selected single malts regardless of their origin. Mars Maltage Cosmo is integrating the permanent range of Mars Whisky. This blended malt whisky expresses a rich and intensely greedy aromatic profile, which will bring you into a charming Japanese and Scottish taste universe, carefully built around the two producing countries craftmanship.

Glengoyne 12 Year Old

Matured in first-fill sherry and bourbon casks and hand-selected refill casks, the 15 Year Old celebrates the contrast and harmony from marrying these casks, allowing our light and fruity signature house style to shine. The 15 Year Old has notes of fresh hay, dried fruits, citrus and rosehip on the nose, with gentle sweetness and a hint of tropical fruit, cinnamon, vanilla and apple on the palate. Enjoy a smooth, dry finish complemented by soft spice and lingering oak. Cask recipe: 20% first fill bourbon. 25% first fill sherry. 55% refill casks.

Glengoyne 15 Year Old

Spicy vanilla fruit, ripe apples and a rich, luxurious mouthfeel. This is the result of eighteen long years and a generous proportion of first-fill sherry casks. Cask recipe: 35% 1st Fill European Oak Sherry. 15% 1st Fill American Oak Sherry, 50% Hand-selected quality Oak Refill casks.

Glengoyne 18 Year Old

Christmas cake, honey, and rich fruit – with a long cinnamon finish. Matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry casks for 21 years. Perfect after dinner or, frankly, anytime. Cask recipe: 100% Sherry Casks. Predominantly 1st Fill European Oak Sherry Casks.

Glengoyne 21 Year Old

Matured exclusively in hand-selected sherry casks for a quarter of a century, this unique malt is an important addition to the Glengoyne collection. This bright amber beauty has red fruits, leather and brown sugar on the nose and soft oak, cinnamon, stewed fruits and a Seville marmalade tang on the palate. The finish is very long with spicy liquorices. The malt is presented in a new heavy bespoke bottle and outer box. The bottle features a fine metal stopper, crafted cartouche and delicately branded neck tag and is attractively displayed in an oak box interior which includes an engraved plinth. The elegant exterior has a refined feather pattern subtly varnished on the pack.

Intense sherry trifle – then the rich complexity of cinnamon, cloves and tangy marmalade. Matured in hand-selected sherry casks of exceptional character, this is the taste of 30 years, held in a single dram.

The Russell Family Cask is a Glengoyne Single Cask personally selected by the 3 generations of the IMD owners – Peter, Leonard and Tom. This Glengoyne 36 Year Old Refill Sherry Butt is decadent and rewarding with a long finish showing the cask and spirit in harmony after over 36 years in our warehouses. A very limited release of only 402 bottles of one of Glengoyne’s oldest whiskies ever released.

The GlenAllachie 10 years old 2011 Ruby Port Pipe Cask NO. 7446 is specially selected for The Art of Drinks 2022. This GlenAllachie was distilled on October 25, 2011 and has matured in Ruby Port Pipe Cask. This was bottled in July 2022 at cask strength of 56.6%, non chill filtered and without the addition of colorants, as a limited single cask release of 858 bottles.
